Carnival in Summer – Vera Brings Good Cheer to the Lower Rhine
For the open-air event „Jeck en de City 2026" in the Niederrhein region, Germany, Music'n Light Veranstaltungstechnik from Gangelt handled the complete sound reinforcement setup for the festival grounds, serving around 5,000 visitors.
Due to the musical line-up featuring numerous live acts from the Cologne carnival and party-schlager scene, the focus was on high speech intelligibility, powerful music reproduction, and even sound coverage across the entire audience area.
The Solution in Detail
As the main system, Music'n Light chose a TW AUDiO VERA set. For the low end, an extensive subwoofer setup consisting of B30, B21 and BSX was realized.
The B30 subwoofers were set up as a gap-cardioid array. The B30, B21 and BSX formed a hybrid subwoofer array. When properly calibrated and aligned, different subwoofer models can indeed be combined within a single array. Together, these subs provide exceptionally even coverage across the entire low-frequency spectrum, from infrasonic depths to tight, well-defined punch.
This setup achieved very even bass distribution across the entire event area while significantly reducing sound radiation onto the stage. This provided optimal working conditions on stage, where four C15 loudspeakers were used for monitoring, while ensuring controlled low-frequency reproduction throughout the audience area.

Field Experience
Throughout the event, numerous well-known Cologne artists performed on stage, including Kasalla, Miljö, Räuber, Höhner, Druckluft, Planschemalöör and Bläck Fööss.
The system convinced throughout the entire event with very homogeneous sound distribution and high level stability. Particularly notable was the combination of a powerful bass foundation and, at the same time, high transparency in the mid and high frequency range.
Both artists as well as external technicians and organizers responded extremely positively to the sound quality. In particular, the intelligibility of announcements and vocals, as well as the performance of the subwoofer array, were repeatedly highlighted.
