VERA50 – Open-Air Debut in Bydgoszcz (Poland)

At the Bydgoszcz City Life Festival on June 6th and 7th, the Polish city of Bydgoszcz transformed into a pulsating concert stage. Thousands of fans, major names from the Polish music scene and a large festival site – the demands on the sound reinforcement system were correspondingly high.

At the centre of it all: the new vertical array system VERA50 by TW AUDiO, which made a compelling case at its open-air debut for why it belongs in the top league.

Consistent Coverage Across 80 Metres

To achieve even and controlled sound reinforcement across the entire site length of around 80 metres, the system was precisely tailored to the requirements.

Twelve VERA50 line array elements were deployed per side, complemented by six flown VERA S54 cardioid subwoofers in an end-fire configuration. VERA36 sidefills ensured seamless coverage of the outer areas, while additional VERA S33 subwoofers in dual arrays extended the low-frequency foundation.

Efficiency Meets Performance

Alongside its acoustic performance, the setup impressed with its exceptional efficiency. Thanks to the 16-ohm design of the VERA50, up to four elements can be driven from a single amplifier channel. One Powersoft X4 therefore powers four VERA50 tops, while up to four VERA S54 units can be run per amp in the sub range. This significantly reduces hardware requirements and improves the overall cost-efficiency of the system. For maximum flexibility, official presets are also available for Lab.Gruppen and Dynacord TGX amplifier platforms.

The on-site engineers were impressed by the enormous headroom and the tonal forgivingness of the system:

What stood out to me most was the behaviour of the HF driver at high SPL levels. Even when pushed hard, the system remained controlled and transparent – exactly what you need at a festival of this scale.
